Colorado Progressive Rock Trio
The Bannetones are an indie/progessive rock trio with elements of pop, punk, jazz, and reggae. Band members Wallace (guitar/lead vocals), Johnny (bass/vocals), and Will (drums/vocals) began playing together in January, 2020 after realizing their unique musical chemistry. The ‘tones wrote their initial set of songs and honed their sound during a tumultuous year which, in addition to a global pandemic, included several personal challenges for the members that helped them appreciate, prioritize, and pursue their music as a positive creative outlet.
Their freshman album, Unusually Doleful (released July of 2021), reflects this strenuous period by acknowledging and facing life’s difficulties while celebrating the opportunity to share with others and grow. Wallace’s lyrics highlight the role of relationships in every-day life all the way up to global societal topics such as religion and climate change. Bannetones shows can range from full on original rock sets to gentle folk; they’ve been known to cover Nirvana, Fleetwood Mac, and The Police with many selections betwixt. In their music, The Bannetones focus on keeping things interesting, dynamic, and, above all, fun! It has to groove!
Narrator
Favorite review so far is ‘weird bop’…but we think they meant ‘pop’! What do you think? ‘Narrator’ marks the first single departure from the debut album, as the ‘tones drift farther into the prog-pop label. What’s it about? Well, inner-narrations of course, and the types of let downs that occur when we mis-interpret scenarios and interactions. Enjoy!
Agnostics Anthem
The intro lays the groove, the verses lay the grievance, and the chorus sends it home; my heart is safe without you. Some religions espouse being saved as an exclusive club. We reject this. This song is a party about accepting the world for what it is: full of love.
Empathy
The Bannetones sound is firmly established with their first single. This song features a driving guitar riff and strong lyrics prior to the full band drop into a grooving shuffle accompanied by a floating bassline. The spacey and raw appeal continues to a major climax and resolves with the final chorus.

The Bannetones Rise In Colorado’s Music Scene
303 Magazine, Andrew Venegas
Making beats and baking bread are two hobbies that don’t often go hand in hand. But in The Bannetones’ case, it’s a part of their band practice. These days, social rituals as common as breaking bread and playing jams together feel like a delicacy, but that hasn’t slowed The Bannetones from their rise in the Denver music scene.

Featured Agnostic’s Anthem:
“The first single to be released off The Bannetones’ upcoming album and the third ever release from the band, “Agnostic’s Anthem” is a slow and groovy track that explores religious themes. The song pushes back against stereotypical ideas of salvation, instead of seeing the beauty in the world as it currently stands independent of an afterlife.”
